Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler (1889-1945): a charismatic leader of the Nazi party who gained power in 1933 and became dictator of Germany. Hitler led Germany in a war of conquest, invading Western Europe and the Soviet Union. After a series of successful military campaigns his army then suffered a sequence of setbacks that ultimately led to the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945. He has become infamous as the personification of evil, his name linked to the Holocaust and the other atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II. Hitler is considered the main cause behind World War II. He committed suicide in his bunker on April 30, 1945.
