Heinrich Himmler

October 1900-23 May 1945. Himmler was a high-ranking Nazi and the head of the SS. He was fervently homophobic and was especially concerned with removing any potential homosexuality from the ranks of the SS. This is particularly significant because the SS was a symbol of 'Aryan' purity and military might. Himmler was also concerned with the public nature of sexuality in the Third Reich and believed it was crucial that the German people produced as many offspring as possible to preserve their ‘race’.
