This 1946 photo illustrates the degree of excitement and interest surrounding the Nuremberg trial of major war criminals. Though the Allies intentionally engineered the trials and their results to be widely covered, the German people quickly lost interest in subsequent trials. Some segments of the population stubbornly resisted denazification.
